Like it or not, it is very difficult to be fashionable during winter.

But, that doesn’t dampen the spirits of fashion-conscious people who would make a fashion statement in any attire. What’s more, they are going ooh-la-la, shopping for some really trendy winter wear.
So, what are the hot colours this season? Akhil Duggar, fashion coordinator, tells us that golden browns, wine and burgundy are the most popular colours. “This winter, blazer-style jackets are the main attraction with women, as they give a chic look, besides providing warmth,” says Duggar. Brown, blue, purple, and also orange are the other colours that are attracting attention.
Archana Vijaya, VJ-turned-news anchor, has bought lots of overcoats and tweeds to keep herself warm. Says she, “Fashion has to go hand in hand with the seasons. And, this winter, I have shopped for lots of jackets and fur-collared tops with knee-high boots to protect myself from the chilly weather, as well as to give myself the desired look,” she says smilingly.
But, office-goers, however, prefer formal shirts, blazer-style jackets, short skirts with knee-high boots and leggings. Ashlesha Shah has recently shopped for turtle-necked tops, cardigans and corduroy jackets to keep in tune with the spirit of the season.
“It was for the sake of fashion. I hate wool and somebody told me that woollen clothes are out of fashion this winter,” she informs. But, how does one keep up the cool quotient? Ushma Karia, a fashion designer, gives some dope. “Ankle, mid-calf, and knee-high boots are doing the rounds, but you can wear them with lace, as winter is all about fashion and accessories,” she tells us. Also, long coats, tweeds and leopard prints can be worn as they are the flavour of the month.
Mansi Shah, another fashion designer, shares some more haute tips. “Tube tops, halter-necked dresses and shirt dresses with leggings can be worn for parties and, if one wants to avoid the chill outside, one can use a cardigan or a denim jacket to cover oneself,” she says. Fur collars are also in, but not the real ones, informs Shah. Bright colours and brocades, with a tinge of gold and bronze, are the hot favourites this winter. So, don’t get disheartened that you have to drape yourself from top to toe to be protected from the biting cold. You can do it stylishly, too.
